Configure Egnyte for the Next Generation API Data Protection

Configure Egnyte for the Next Generation API Data Protection

To configure Egnyte for the Next Generation API Data Protection, you need to authorize Netskope as a web application client to access your Egnyte instance. Follow the instructions below.

Prerequisite

  • Ensure that you have prepared an Egnyte administrator account that will be used to connect with Netskope. Post grant, The administrator account cannot be deleted.

  • For customers who use Egntye on the Classic API Data Protection and wish to migrate to the Next Generation API Data Protection platform, do not use the same administrator account. Netskope requires you to use a different or create a new Egnyte administrator account to connect with Next Generation API Data Protection.

  • If you have guest or external users in your SaaS environment belonging to domains considered internal, you must set the appropriate internal domains for Netskope to classify exposure accurately. To set up internal domains, follow this article.

Limitations

Netskope may inaccurately report file and folder exposure if a group gains access via a sharing link, due to limitations in Egnyte’s Links API.

Configure Netskope to Access your Egnyte Account

To authorize Netskope to access your Egnyte account, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to the Netskope tenant UI and go to Settings > Configure App Access > Next Gen > CASB API.

  4. Under Administrator Email, enter the email address of the user who will receive an email notification when a policy violation or event triggers. This step is optional.

  5. Under Instance Name, enter a name of the SaaS app instance. This step is optional and if left blank, Netskope will determine the name of the app instance post grant.

  6. Click Grant Access.

You will be redirected to the Egnyte sign-in page.
