Configure Zoom Instance for SaaS Security Posture Management

Configure Zoom Instance for SaaS Security Posture Management

The installation instruction describes how to integrate your Zoom account with Netskope. To configure Zoom for SaaS Security Posture Management, you need to authorize Netskope as a web application client to access your Zoom account.

Create a New User for Netskope

Skip this step if you wish to use your Zoom account admin to grant access to Netskope.

If you do not wish to use the Zoom account admin, you can create a new user (with minimum permissions) exclusively for Netskope. First, you have to create a new user role, then create a new user, and finally assign the user to the new role.

Only the Zoom account admin and users who have edit permissions for role management can create roles and add users to those roles.

Create a New User Role

To create a new user role with specific permissions:

  1. Log in to the Zoom portal as the account owner.

  2. On the left navigation, click User Management then Roles.

  3. Click + Add Role.

  4. Specify a name and description for the role.

  5. Click the View checkbox for the following permissions:

    • User and Permission Management > Users > Entire Account

    • User and Permission Management > Role Management

    • Account Management > Account Settings

    • Reports > Usage Reports

  6. Click the Edit checkbox for the following permissions:

    • Advanced Features > Marketplace

  7. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes to return to the Role Management page.

Create a New User

To create a new user:

  1. Log in to the Zoom portal as the account owner.

  2. On the left navigation, click User Management then Users.

  3. Click + Add Users and enter the following details:

    • email address of the user.

    • User Type: <user can be a basic user>

  4. Click Add.

  5. Zoom sends an invitation email to the new user. The user should accept the invitation.

You have successfully created a new user.

When granting access to Netskope, you can sign in with this newly created user.

Assign User to Role

Next, you have to assign the new user to the role. To do so:

  1. Log in to the Zoom portal as the account owner.

  2. On the left navigation, click User Management then Users.

  3. Click the Edit checkbox to the left of the new user. Click the Change Role button.

  4. In User Role, choose the newly created role and click Save.

Configure Zoom Instance in the Netskope UI

To authorize Netskope to access your Zoom instance:

  1. Log in to the Netskope tenant UI and go to Settings > Configure App Access > Classic > SaaS.

  2. Select the Zoom icon, and then click Setup Instance.

  3. The Setup Instance window opens. Enter the following details:

    • Instance Name: Enter the domain name of your zoom account (<company>.zoom.us) or the email address of your Zoom account.

You can enter either the Zoom account admin email address or the newly created user in the earlier procedure. If you use the Zoom account admin email address, do not use multiple admin email addresses belonging to the same Zoom account to create multiple Netskope Zoom SSPM instances. If you do, this may result in erroneous resource count on the security posture inventory page.
    • Instance Type: Select the Security Posture checkbox. Select this option to allow Netskope to continuously scan through your SaaS app to identify and remediate risky SaaS app misconfigurations and align security posture with best practices and compliance standards.

Also, you have the option to run the policy at intervals (15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 60 minutes).

  4. Click Save.

  5. Click Grant Access for the app instance you just created. You will be prompted to log in to the Zoom account with your username and password. Either use the user you just created in the optional step above, or any existing user who possess the role permissions specified above. A list of app permissions will be presented. Click Allow.

At times, you may receive an error message like “You cannot authorize Netskope”. In such a case, the Zoom account admin has to pre-approve the Netskope app. Click Request Pre-approval and contact your Zoom account admin to approve the app. To learn more: End User Authorization Flows.
To learn more about the permissions: Permissions Required for Zoom.

Once you authorize, Netskope installs the Netskope app on your Zoom account. For additional information on the Netskope app, read this article available in the Zoom app marketplace.

Refresh your browser, and you should see a green check icon next to the instance name. You have successfully integrated the Netskope app with your Zoom account.

Next, you should configure a security posture policy. To do so, see SaaS Security Posture Management Policy Wizard.

If you intend to decommission the integration between Netskope and Zoom, follow (Optional) Uninstall the Netskope App from the Zoom Account.
