With Netskope Advanced Analytics, you can move dashboards between different tenants or back up custom configurations by using the Import From File and Export to File feature.
This is particularly useful for moving dashboards from a test environment to production or for sharing custom community templates.
How to Export a Dashboard
Exporting a dashboard creates a .json (or sometimes zipped) file containing the metadata, layout, and query logic of your dashboard.
- Navigate to Advanced Analytics from the Netskope admin console.
- Go to your Personal or Group folder.
- Locate the dashboard you wish to export.
- Click the three-dot (ellipses) menu at the far right of the dashboard row.
- Select Export to File.
Ensure you are not trying to export a default “Netskope Library” dashboard directly; you must first Clone it to your Personal folder to enable export options.
- The file automatically downloads to your local machine.
How to Import a Dashboard
- Navigate to Advanced Analytics.
- Select either the Personal or Group folder (depending on where you want the dashboard to live).
- Click the Import From File button located at the top right of the folder view.
- Click Select File and choose the dashboard file from your computer.
- Click Upload.
- Once the upload is complete, the dashboard will appear in your list. Open it to verify that the widgets populate correctly with your account’s data.
Key Requirements & Considerations
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Permissions | You must have an Advanced Analytics license and appropriate RBAC permissions (typically Admin or specific Report permissions) to see these options. |
| Custom Fields | If your dashboard uses Custom Attributes, these may not export. It is best practice to remove custom attributes before exporting or ensure the destination tenant has identical custom fields defined. |
| Data Sources | Exporting a dashboard only exports the structure. When imported, the dashboard will query the data available in the new tenant. |
| Default Library | You cannot export dashboards directly from the Netskope Library folder. You must Clone them to your Personal folder first. |
