In VPE, consider Group as a mechanism to manage multiple VPE nodes as one unit rather than configuring each node individually. The main purpose of creating nodes is to apply a platform template or service template to each VPE node one at a time, you can apply the template once at the group level. Every node inside that group automatically inherits the same template.
Create a Group
You can create a group in two ways:
-
Create an empty group first, then add nodes to it later.
-
Go directly to an existing VPE node and add it to a new or existing group
– If a node already has its own standalone template and you later move it into a group, the group’s template overrides the node’s individual settings.
Add VPE Nodes to an Empty Group
To create a group:
-
On On-Premises Infrastructure, click New Group.
This opens the Create New Group window.
-
In Create New Group, perform the following:
-
Enter a descriptive Group Name (max 100 characters; cannot contain ” or ;).
-
In Configuration, select a Platform Template or a Service Template, or both.
-
-
Click Create.

Add VPE Nodes to a Group
To add a node to a group that already exists:
-
Go to the list of VPE nodes.
-
Next to the node you want to add, click the ellipsis (…) menu and select Add to Existing Group.
-
Select the target group.

-
Click Group.
If the group does not exist, select the option to create a new group instead. Netskope adds the node to the new group automatically.
Apply Platform and Service Templates at the Group Level
Apply a platform template, a service template, or both, to a group instead of configuring each node individually.
Prerequisite: Create the platform template, service template, or both, before you attach them to a group.
-
On the Groups page, click the ellipsis (…) and select Edit.
-
In Edit Group, select a platform template, a service template, or both.
-
Click Save.

Netskope applies the selected template(s) to every VPE node currently in the group.
