What is Mixed Content?
Many internal web applications were built before current browser security practices.
These applications may:
- Load the main page securely (HTTPS), but
- Still pull some elements (images, scripts, iframes, WebSockets, etc.) in ways modern browsers treat as “mixed content.”
Modern browsers often block or restrict this content, which can cause pages to appear broken, incomplete, or partially functional.
When these applications are accessed through Netskope Enterprise Browser with Netskope Private Access (NPA), that same browser behavior can interrupt normal use of the app.
What does the Mixed Content Support feature do?
The Mixed Content Support feature is designed to keep these internal applications working smoothly for Netskope Enterprise Browser users, while maintaining strong security controls.
At a high level, when enabled:
- Enterprise Browser can handle mixed content more intelligently for specific private applications.
- Preserves full app functionality while keeping access secured and managed through NPA.
- Users see their internal apps working as expected in Enterprise Browser.
No changes are required to the application itself.
How to enable and configure the Mixed Content Support feature
- Enable the tenant-level feature flag
Contact your Netskope account team or Netskope Support to enable this tenant-level feature flag. It is not enabled by default. - Identify applicable apps
Identify internal web applications accessed through Enterprise Browser where users report blocked, missing, or incomplete content. - Enable Mixed Content Support per app
After activating the feature flag for the tenant, a Mixed Content Security option appears in the Advanced tab for Enterprise Browser private apps. Enable this toggle for each private application requiring the feature.
Note – This option is unavailable for reverse-proxy browser-based private apps.
- Validate and expand
- Confirm that the user experience has improved for the initial set of apps.
- Gradually extend the configuration to other suitable applications as needed.
