OS Family Criteria

OS Family Criteria

Note

This is a Beta feature. Contact Netskope Support or your sales representative to enable this feature.

The OS Family criterion allows you to configure operating system families as variables for your policies.

Available options are: Windows (excluding the Server version of Windows), Windows Server (Server version only), MacOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and ChromeOS.

The OS criterion for Real-time Protection policies will be deprecated. If your existing policies use OS as criteria, you must update the policies with the OS Family criterion. If the policy uses an unsupported OS family, you can create a HTTP Header profile policy with the User Agent header field instead.

Note that you must have Netskope Client deployed on your devices as the OS Family criterion requires it to detect the operating systems. This is not required for policies that use the HTTP header profiles with User Agent.

The following modes are supported:

  • NS Client is enabled and steering traffic (i.e., Client Access Method).
  • NS Client is disabled because other access methods are detected.
In this case, you must enable the “Enable device classification and client-based end user notifications when the client is not tunneling traffic” option in Netskope Client Configuration.
